Observatory

Telescope
Tour the planets, stars, and cosmos at Adelphi's new observatory located on the roof of Blodgett Hall. The observatory features a Meade 14" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with a GPS alignment and tracking mechanism that can automatically align and focus on more than 145,000 celestial objects or take observers on a guided tour of the best celestial objects to view on any given night. The telescope's high-resolution CCD camera and computer enable detailed imaging of planets and deep-space objects. Observers can record digital images of the celestial objects and instantly send them to friends and family over the Internet.

Interested students are encouraged to join the Astronomy Club. Its members also participate in Adelphi's community outreach efforts where high school students and teachers from Long Island, Queens, and Brooklyn are invited to use the observatory for star gazing and research.
