Mathematics Requirements

Students must successfully complete either one year of mathematics or one semester of mathematics and one semester of statistics. Only one semester of mathematics is required for students who wish to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Notes:
* After the requirements are met for any category, additional courses taken in that category count as Bio electives and will be applied to the 38 total required credits.

** The distribution requirement for Category II can be satisfied by successful completion of both BIO 203 and BIO 204 (Human Body: Scientific Perspectives on Structure and Function I and II).  Only four credits of the 38 required credits for the biology major may be derived from this sequence.  However, all eight credits will be applied toward the 120 credits required for a bachelor's degree.

*** Four credits toward the distribution requirement for Category III (i.e., one Category III course) can be achieved through successful completion of both CHE 471 and CHE 472 (Biochemistry I and II).  The remaining four credits from this sequence may be applied as a biology elective.

**** A total of 4 credits may be applied toward the Biology major from BIO 491, BIO 492, BIO 498, and BIO 499.

***** Please note that the number of credits will depend on the lab offered in a particular semester.
